Namecheap Web Hosting Review

3

My assessment of various web hosting companies continues as I weigh Namecheap after reviewing awardspace a day ago.Its worth noting that I don’t do reviews without trying any providers service, so you can take my word for it.

I will use the headings in bold in my assessment.Feel free to skip to any point of interest.Namecheap’s servers are located in the United States where the HQ are at.Straight to the points.

1.Customer Support/ response rate

Namecheap live chat support has a response rate of about 2 minutes from my experience. On email support it takes about 6-10 minutes. The effectiveness of their support is almost at perfection, they solved all my queries at all instances.

2.cPanel

Namecheap uses cPanel for clients web portal to manage their websites. cPanel is one of the most popular applications used for web admins dashboard purposes . Its is easy to use and doesn’t require any sophisticated skills. It’s also secure and has the flexibility to change themes of the dashboard. Because cPanel’s popularity, many resources are available making it easy to get accustomed to cPanel. In case of any problems there is a dedicated live chat support team on standby.

3.Security

From the look of the SSL packages available to choose from, they have heavily invested in SSL.Namecheap also offer free SSL for one year which is pretty good. Now that starting July Google has required all sites to comply with SSL requirements SSL is mandatory. They also use hotlink protection and leech protection.

4.Installers for third party apps

.eg.
wordpress, joomla,drupal,opencart 1.5,prestaShop etc.

Namecheap provides softaculous installer which works pretty well.(I have Only tried it for wordpress)

5.Domain Management

Namecheap has great domain management options:

  • A subdomain manager option to enable one create sub domains of the main domain and many other features under this option
  • They have Addon domains,domain aliases,domain redirects.

6.File Management

Namecheap supports ftp accounts ,file manager ,backup, web disk, directory privacy and Inodes usage.

7.Database management

This depends on plan but under the basic plan you have see phpmyadmin and MysQl only but the list may actually grow with the plan, be sure to see their plans below.

8. Email
